Crab Claw Herb / Rau Cang Ca - Peperomia pellucida

This species walks the line between an herb and leafy green vegetable. 

Native to southeast Asia, this moisture loving species is very low growing and can easily function as a groundcover in the dappled shade of a food forest. Readily self seeds and makes an interesting textured mat of vegetation. Leaves are shiny and heart shaped, crunchy with slightly fragrant and spicy flavors. Can be eaten raw or cooked.
