A tidy growing chrysanthemum relative, this species leaves and flowers has been utilized historically as a fever reducer but modern medicine has found this to be less effective for this but can be effective to treat migraine headaches due to containing a chemical parthenolide which can reduce spasms. As with all medicinal herbs, research and consult a health professional before consuming.

As a plant in the chrysanthemum family, feverfew flowers contains pyrethrum, a common broad spectrum insecticide that can be processed to utilize in this manner.

The key to keeping feverfew going longer in our hot humid climate in Florida is to ensure planting in a well draining mix that will not stay saturated after our summer deluges and planting in areas with good air circulation that won't encourage molds and mildews. Although this species in perennial (we usually have them live a couple years in our location) many may find this to be easier to grow as a winter annual, saving seed at the end of spring and replanting in the fall.
