Married Man Pork Basil - Osmium sp.

Of the hundreds of species of plants we've grown over the years, few even come close to as unique of a name as Married Man Pork Basil. Guyanese in origin, and most appreciated there as one of the main ingredients in Guyanese green seasoning , this extremely complex basil is a foodie's dream - if we could even try to describe the scent and flavor, think of a Thai basil combined with a vanilla sweetness, clove heavy and some citrus notes. Due to its complexity it's also nice as a tea ingredient.

Thinner lighter green leaves than most other basils, this perennializes nicely as it rarely flowers (it has yet to for us and we propagate it from cuttings) and should be protected from freezing weather as it is not cold hardy.
