Mullien - Verbascum thapsus

Mullien is a biennial herb with a large basal rosette of fuzzy gray/green leaves. In the second year, a large flower spike of small yellow flowers is formed (a great pollinator attractor), and the plant will readily self seed or seed can be collected for planting elsewhere. A plant of disturbed and poor dry soils, after establishment rarely needs any care. In our subtropical climate make sure its in full sun, and in an area with excellent airflow and can dry out quickly after our rains.
Traditionally used as an herb for cough and respiratory issue, another folk/common name is cowboy toilet paper, as its wide fuzzy leaves have utility in that way as well!
