New Asian Gynura - Gynura sp.

An Okinawa Spinach and Longevity Spinach relative, this un-named variety was introduced to the larger growing community by Josh Jamison of Cody Cover Farm, via a vendor at the venerated Mustang Market of Pinellas Park, a former market revered by those seeking hard to find plants and produce that served the local Southeast Asian community in Pinellas County.
We've taken to unofficially calling this variety oak or elm leaf spinach due to its more ornamental leaf shape compared to its more common cousins. Its growth habit is similar to longevity spinach (low growing but sometimes scrambling ground cover, but somewhat less vigorous in nature. We also like the leaf texture more and out of the 2 Gynura we grow, this one makes it to the kitchen more frequently than the others. If you have to collect every edible green or like the appearance more than the other Gynuras, this is a nice one to add to the collection.
