Vietnamese coriander or mint / Rau Ram - Persicaria odorata

A sprawling perennial herb with a myriad of uses in Vietnamese and other southeast asian  cuisine, although not related to mint or coriander, its gained this English name due to its similar scent and taste. 

Rarely growing more than a few inches tall, this perennial appreciates mostly full sun and consistently moist but well draining rich soil. It will spread far and wide in ideal conditions, so letting it spill over the edges of a large container or small raised bed is a great way to keep it tidy and contained. Will be slightly damaged by hard freeze but cuttings can be taken before a cold weather event as insurance if the main plant doesn't  resprout from the roots.
