A plant species that has a long lineage of cultural importance and herbal usage even before humans (yarrow has been found in Neanderthal burials) as a general tonic, beer additive before hops became popular and stanching bleeding (leading to common names including bloodweed, staunchweed and soldiers woundwort) but nowadays most commonly utilized as a beneficial insect and pollinator attractor, yarrow is a nice compliment to plant at edges of herb and vegetable gardens as it thrives in less than ideal soils. Low growing most of the year but can reach over 3ft when its white flower umbels form. As with all herbs utilized for medicinal value, please thoroughly research and consult a health professional before consuming.
